Group C Racing thrills the crowd at Silverstone

Last weekend Group C Racing left the Peter Auto fold to make a one-off appearance at Silverstone Classic in England.

The drivers had only half-an-hour on Friday to dial themselves in on the 5,891-km Silverstone circuit and set a qualifying time for the two 30-minute races on Saturday and Sunday, which were both perturbed by rain. Night was falling when the chequered flag fell to bring down the curtain on the first one. Steve Tandy and Mike Wrigley, both in Spices, had a great scrap until the latter was delayed by a spin.

The second heat began on a dry track but a heavy shower sent the cars diving for the pits to change tyres. Kriton Lendoudis at the wheel of the ex-Michael Schumacher Mercedes C11 came home first despite a few off-course excursions. The previous day’s winner Steve Tandy didn’t manage to get involved in the battle for victory.

The Group C Racing entrants will be competing in the first Hungaroring Classic between 29 September-1 October with the other Peter Auto grids.
